1. Your body is a self-healing organism. You are designed to heal yourself!
2. Your Nervous system… your brain, spinal cord and nerves are the master controlling and healing system of your body. As long as your brain and spinal cord are sending life to every cell, tissue and organ of your body, you should have the very best health you have ever had in your life. This is called normal.
3. If something interferes with the life flowing from your brain and spinal cord, your body will malfunction. Sickness and suffering are the inevitable result.
4. Chiropractors correct this interference. Gentle, effective adjustments are given to correct this interference so your body heals itself.

It’s as simple as that…
Other Doctors treat the symptoms. The Doctor of Chiropractic corrects the cause. Feeling good is just a great side effect.

Chiropractic care is a natural approach to health. It is considered conservative and often preventative care for patients. The procedures are low-risk and aimed at conserving health and avoiding treatment that may have negative side effects. Chiropractors recognize that the body was designed to heal itself. It has the ability to heal and recover, no matter what the condition - as long as that process is not interfered with.

Your body regulates itself through nerve messages (your nervous system) transmitted between you brain and all other areas. As long as your nervous system is able to effectively communicate with every tissue, cell, organ of your body, you should have the very best health possible. If your nervous system is not able to communicate with your cells, tissues, etc., your body will not have the ability to do what it is designed to do. We call this "malfunction". It can be very serious. The objective of chiropractic is to detect, correct and prevent the occurrence of spinal subluxations. Our mission is to eliminate this communication breakdown and restore law and order through the Chiropractic Adjustment.
It's that simple

Yes! Everyone should get spinal check-ups to assure that their spine and body are always functioning at optimal health and giving them peak performance.

Leg-Length Inequality

Another sign of postural imbalance is leg-length inequality (LLI). With the exception of rare cases (an improperly healed broken bone or muscle or joint disease), both legs should be the same length. When your skeletal structure is misaligned, you give the appearance of having a shorter leg.
You will need someone to assist you with this test. Keep your shoes on and lie face down on the floor. Have your assistant stand behind you and gently push the soles of your feet toward your head, comparing where the heels of the shoes meet. One foot (often the right) may appear anywhere from 1/8” to 1” shorter than the other (1).

Foot Flare

This test is easy as long as you don’t cheat. Merely look at your feet as you walk. Do they both point forward, or does one foot appear to flare outward or inward? Do both? Foot flare may be a sign of a problem in the lower spine or hips or meningeal stress in the upper neck or base of the brain (2).
Unbalanced Shoulders or Hips
Stand in front of a mirror, pick the same points on both hips and shoulders and place a mark on the mirror then stand back and compare the points. If it helps, you can connect the dots to compare the two points. The points should be level.

Unbalanced Head

Have a photo taken in front of a plain, bare background. Draw a line connecting your hips. Draw a vertical line from the center of your hips straight up. Does your head line up evenly with the center of your hips or is it off center? Do the same with a photo taken from the side. Is your head tilting forward or back? Show the photo to your chiropractor.

Range of Motion

Can you tilt and rotate your head and hips without pain or restriction? Both sides should have the same range of motion and be pain free without any clicking noises.

Other Super-Easy Ways to Tell

If the answer to any of the questions is yes, see your chiropractor:
Do your heels wear out unevenly?
Does it look like your head is tilted?
Does one foot kick your other pant leg or foot when you walk?
Do you feel you veer to one side when you walk?
Do you feel off-balance?
Do you (or your tailor) have to compensate for any shoulder, arm or leg imbalance?

Spinal imbalances can be a result of a sudden event such as an accident or can be progressive over a period of time. Most people don’t pay attention to how their bodies feel on a day-to-day basis, so, when answering the above questions clear your mind and listen to what your body is telling you.
These simple tests by no means replace or match the extensive evaluation performed by your chiropractor to adequately evaluate the spine. However, they are easy ways you can test yourself and your family members for overt spinal imbalances that even you can see.

The adjustment is a specific application of a low amplitude high velocity force, utilized to correct vertebral subluxation. Scientific research has proven the direct relationship between the nervous system and the immune system. The immune system is the one that governs whether or not people will fall victim to infectious or other detrimental processes. Since the nervous system controls all functions and healing in the human body, and can be put in jeopardy by spinal dysfunction, it is imperative that everyone have optimal spinal function. The spine is the most common area which interference to the nervous system occurs. This is called the Vertebral Subluxation Complex. Only Chiropractors are trained to detect and correct these interferences in a person's spine.

How Does an Adjustment Feel?

Most people receiving adjustments will describe a sense of relaxation, and a much looser and freeing feeling. As a rule, spinal adjustments are not painful, though some patients report experiencing some discomforts following the first few adjustments. This apparent negative feeling usually subsides with a few adjustments and is simply attributed to the physiological changes of the body tissues. Spinal correction takes time: weeks, months, or years for some people

Detoxification or a cleansing of the body after the adjustment may lead to slight discomforts which may include headache, sniffles, a slight fever, drowsiness, lethargy or similar reactions.
Realigning the spine may cause the muscles around the spine to be sore. This is only temporary, until the weakened muscles strengthen themselves. Occasionally nerves that were compressed or 'pinched' are now starting to heal. This healing usually involves the original feeling of the injury to resurface. This occurrence is known as "retracing" and is an integral part of the healing process.
Another part of the healing process gives the feeling of a 'high' or euphoria when nerves send nerve impulses or 'life energy' through the body. Depending if the body is in good general health, the body may feel the same or if the body is very ill, the body might not feel anything because it has lost all sensitivity.

Continued chiropractic care will show better balance, smoother movement, more energy, awareness of the spine's movement, areas of tightness and/or restrictions, breathing abilities, body stress, emotional relaxation and change in eating habits and energy. The most important benefit in chiropractic care is found when the nerve communication to the heart, lungs, joints, organs, skin, eyes, ears, and brain itself are improved. The preventative benefits: better night's sleep, more energy and better nerve system function.

I know there is so much controversy between chiropractic and medical care, but if it were not for chiropractic I would still be in pain. A car accident left me with constant back pain. I tried everything from painkillers to preparing to have surgery. I heard stories from my friends who had surgery and to this day wish they never had it. I decided to go to Dr. Steingart before the surgery and I am so thankful that I did. My back pain is 95% gone and my life has changed because of Dr. Steingart. Thank you so much!

From the time I walked in the door I was impressed! I was seen promptly, and Dr. Steingart was a true professional. When I was younger I was in a car accident and have been suffering with neck and back pain. Almost to the point that I couldn't get out of bed! After 6 treatments I started to see relief, and today it's like the accident never happened. I've been seeing Dr. Steingart for about 2 years now and I am so excited about the future!
